Discord Markdown vs Unicode Fonts
Discord has two ways to format text, and they work very differently. Discord markdown (**bold**, *italic*, ~~strikethrough~~, `code`, ||spoiler||) only works in messages and is processed by Discord's renderer. Unicode fonts from Typedly work everywhere — usernames, nicknames, statuses, channels, and messages — because they are actual characters, not formatting.
Use markdown for message emphasis, and Unicode fonts for profile customization. Server admins use Unicode fonts to create cohesive branding — styled channel categories, role names, and server descriptions give your community a professional look.
